1876 (9 Nov.) bank envelope registered to Scotland bearing 1870-90 5c. olive-green with 8c. Registered stamp in dull blue tied by indistinct cancellation with Galt despatch c.d.s. in the lower corner and a fair strike of unframed "registered" in black with another strike in red plus a good strike of the scarce second type of Liverpool crown/"registered" (sans serif letters) in red, the reverse with Hamilton c.d.s. (10.11), Liverpool registered dated oval (26.11), code "I" and Canonbie arrival (27.11). A good example of this scarce 8c. value on cover, of which only twelve have been recorded. Carried on the Allan Packet 'Circassian'. Pays 5c. postage (under ½oz.) and 8c. registration (from 25 November 1875 to 31 December 1877)
