1863 (23 May) envelope from Kingston to Le Pont, bearing 4d. orange-brown strip of three placed vertically at right and each cancelled "A01", showing despatch, London Paid (12.7) and Calais (13.7) datestamps, circular-framed "pd" and manuscript "1/2", the apparent British claim, all on face, Neuchatel (1.6) and Le Pont (month written in manuscript) datestamps on reverse. A rare underpayment of 1/- against the correct rate of 1/4d. with no evidence of postage due claimed by Switzerland though the letter took over one month from Neuchatel to Le Pont, possibly waiting for the underpayment.
