1762 (31 Jan.) entire letter "p Packet" to the Jamaica Coffee House, London, rated 1N6" and showing, on reverse, superb "jamaica" (J1 sub type with tail of "j" extending below the other letters) and Bishop mark. Proud PS3. Photo

Note: No regular Packet service existed between Jamaica and England from 1711 to 1755 and consequently the majority of letters from the island had to be taken by private ship. Special mail bags were maintained at the Coffee Houses to be carried by the next vessel and similarly letters brought to London could be collected from the Coffee House
