Stamps of South Africa Used in South West Africa
These were available up to 31 January 1923 when they ceased to be valid. On 17 December 1920 the League of Nations conferred a Mandate of Administration of the territory on His Britannic Majesty, to be carried out by the government in South Africa. The Mandate came into force on 1 January 1923, on which date the first South African stamps overprinted for use in the territory were issued
The Adhesives
10/- deep blue and olive-green vertical pair and two singles (one with a couple of minor perf. imperfections) used with 1d., 1/- (2) and 2/6d. cancelled with several Luderitzbucht datestamps and part censor handstamp on blue paper piece, usually associated with "diamond packages"; fine and a rare usage of high value stamps genuinely used.
