1859 (12 May) envelope from Bridgetown "via Havannah" to Philadelphia, rated "4" and bearing 1858 6d. rose-red with three very large margins (roughly separated at foot) cancelled "1" and with "steamship/10" packet charge due handstamp, the reverse with despatch and St. Thomas (15.5) datestamps. Note: Mail from Barbados to North America was usually routed via St. Thomas. From there carriage to Havana was by British transatlantic steamer for an extra fee of 1d. It was then taken northwards by U.S. packet
