1917 (1 Jan.) many times re-directed envelope bearing Great Britain 1d. scarlet originally sent to Lieutenant Hallam via the G.P.O., Douala; upon arrival in Cameroons the envelope was re-directed to the G.P.O., Lagos and endorsed in blue crayon, in Southern Nigeria the envelope was endorsed 'Try Regt.' in red crayon, the letter was eventually returned to England via the Crown Agents for the Colonies and the rare "cannot identify recipient" pink label affixed; various transit and arrival markings on reverse (8).
