A spectacular group (16) of hand-painted envelopes, formerly part of the Dr. Paul Ramsay collection, the majority with an equestrian or hunting theme including 1842 (10 July) handpainted Hunting scene "Going! Going! Gone for 1 Penny", bearing 1841-53 1d. tied by a black Maltese Cross cancellation, from the Reverend L. Lorraine Smith to London, thought to be the earliest recorded hand-painted envelope along with a further three examples illustrated by Rev. L. Lorraine Smith; three simply stunning and meticulously painted envelopes from the Miss. Nora Martin correspondence; five envelopes part of the Hugh Rose - King-Harman correspondence including 1897 (7 Jan.) "The Thoroughbred" and 1897 (22 Jan.) "Indian Blackbuck" both to the Hon. Mrs. King-Harman while in Mauritius and 1897 (29 June) "Spanish Cavalry" and (5 July) "Indian Cavalry" to the same recipient whilst in Gibraltar and London respectively; 1923 (23 Dec.) large envelope "The Huntsman" used within London and initialled E.A.L. at lower right, etc.; a magnificent assembly of exhibition calibre
