Malaya and British Borneo, a Harrisons proof for a proposed issue of $1, ND (ca 1962), blue and pale yellow, lilac guilloche at centre, value at left in ornate oval frame, portrait of Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tunku Abdul Rahman, reverse blue, 16 coats of arms on reverse including the nine States of Malaya and one symbolizing the Federation of Malaya
(Goon second edition, 2015, p.309, Tan MBB 8), this design modelled on the Elizabeth II $1 of 1953 and presumably mooted to illustrate the states of Malaya being bought under one flag. This example discovered with a group of Harrisons archival stamp material, Harrisons were primarily stamp printers. Waterlow and De la Rue were the printers for Malaya and Borneo. It is likely that Harrisons were pitching for the printing contract for the emerging Bank Negara issues for which several similar items were produced in essay form (Goon P.317). Only one example believed extant prior to this discovery and this the second example believed extant
