Lewis Smaje Wolff was born on 28 December 1892 at Hull and by 1911 was a student living at home at 41 Lambert Street. He served in Egypt with the East Riding of Yorkshire Yeomanry from 10 November 1915 and latterly as a Lance-Corporal with the Machine Gun Corps (No. 150493). He died in 1972 at Pretoria, South Africa.
