USA: Tuolumne County Water Company, 3 examples, $250 shares, 185[62], #4272, #3200 and #3202, beautiful vignette of hillside with water races and miners panning for gold, black, cut cancelled. Formed in 1851 to supply water to the miners in the Columbia area where gold had been discovered in 1848. The company lasted for many years, acquiring its competitors until 1904 when the last remains of the company were offered for sale at $500,000. EF.
