Great Britain: Leeds Olympia Limited, £1 ordinary shares, 19[09], #75, scrollwork at left, black, red seal. This was one of the finest roller skating rinks built at the start of the craze that saw some 500 rinks built around the country by 1909. By 1912 the craze was in decline and the Olympia began to host music and sporting events especially some world class boxing matches. At the outbreak of WWI Blackburn Aviation needed more space to build aircraft and the Olympia was acquired for the purpose. Interestingly the works remained known as the Olympia for some years. VF.
