Great Britain: Hepworth Picture Plays (1922) Limited, pair of certificates for £1 ordinary shares, 192[3], #117, blue and 10% cumulative participating preference shares of £1, 192[3], #285, red, both handsigned by cinema pioneer Cecil Hepworth as director. The first also signed by Henry Edwards. Hepworth started his company in 1897 at Walton Studios, West London, starting with short films but soon progressing to feature films. It dominated the early market in England but ran into financial difficulties after WWI. This company acquired all the assets in 1922 but failed shortly afterwards and Hepworth retired from the business. Henry Edwards was an actor and director starring in some 80 films and directing 67, mostly for Hepworth. VF and rare important pieces in the film industry (2).
