Great Britain: Thames & Severn Canal Navigation, a general bond for £[200], 17[94], #245, signed by John Disney as Chairman, attractive piece, on vellum, with two vignettes of canal tunnels at top, black printing, on vellum, seal removed as cancellation. Completed in 1789 to connect The Thames at Inglesham Lock near Lechlade to the Stroudwater Navigation. The Sapperton Tunnel was at the time the longest in the country. Failed due to railway competition and abandoned in 1927. Like many others now in the hands of a Trust and open for pleasure craft. VF.
