Australia: Australian Freehold Gold Mine, 20 shares, 1852, #674, attractive black and blue printing. A company formed on the Cornish 'Cost Book' principle similar to a handful of English companies formed in 1851/52. Not much is known of this company except that a group of about 50 employees of the company sailed from Bristol in the same year. In 1855 there was a Civil case brought before the Vice Chancellors Court in London because the company were accused of 'rigging the market' by buying their own shares to increase their value. VF and rare.
