(x) U.S.A.: Standard Oil Trust, certificate for [1000] shares, 5th April 188[2], #100, issued to Stephen V. Harkness and signed by him on the reverse and also on the counterfoil. Signed by John D. Rockefeller as President and Henry M.Flagler as Secretary and again as witness to Harkness' signature on the reverse. State capitol at top, green and black. Harkness was a wealthy distillery owner who went into the crude oil business in Ohio. He was stepbrother to Henry Flagler and was one of the largest shareholders which made him an extremely wealthy man. He served as a director of the company until his death in 1888. VF and scarce.
