(x) U.S.A.: Bodie Bluff Consolidation Mining Co., unissued certificate for $100 shares, 186-, signed by Leland Stanford as President, mining vignette in centre, black, yellow and pink underprints, with counterfoil. Leland Stanford (1824-1893), industrialist and politician. Moved to California at the time of the gold rush building a wholesale business and by 1861 was elected Governor of California and later as a State Senator. Became president of the Central Pacific Railroad and later the Southern Pacific Railroad. Founded Stanford University in 1885. EF.
