U.S.A.: Galveston, Houston & Henderson Railroad Company, Texas, a bearer certificate for $40 share, circa 1853, #16,0978, signed by Richard Kimball as President, small format, black, usually found attached to an issue of bonds floated in Europe. Kimball was a lawyer in New York City, working for several Railroad companies. He bought about 100,000 acres in Texas, founded the town of Kimball on the Brazos River and was one of the founders of this company in 1853. After the civil war he left Texas to concentrate on his legal practice. VF.
