New York Republican Newspaper Association, New York, $1000 shares, 1874, #6, issued to C. C. Norvell and signed by him both as President of the company and on a separate transfer document, black. A new paper in the style of the New York Times, presumably because C.C.Norvell was its financial editor for many years. Issued 6 times per week. Caleb Cushing Norvell, 1813-1891, newspaper editor and printer, printed for the City of Nashville and also the State of Tennessee. Moved to Staten island to become Financial editor of the New York Times in 1851 where he served until the formation of this company. This venture was short lived and cost him dearly. VF.
