Gloria Swanson, 1899-1983, actress and producer. Starred in several movies directed by Cecil B. DeMille. Probably best known for her role of a fading silent movie star in Sunset Boulevard, in 1950. Swanson made many investments following her retirement in 1934 and this company was formed to finance and exploit the inventions of 4 refugee inventors from Austria and Germany including Anton Kratky who invented a process for producing hard carbide tools and Leopold Neumann who had invented dictating machines.
