1880 (12 Jan.) envelope ex the Maynard correspondence to New York, bearing 1d. brownish red vertical pair [6/9] from Transfer 1, placed sideways and both centrally cancelled "A09", showing red crayon "2" with despatch c.d.s. in the opposite corner and, on reverse, St. Thomas (Danish P.O.) transit c.d.s. (13.1) and arrival d.s. (26.1); the upper 1d. with damaged top right corner and the envelope a little soiled. A rare rate which only lasted one year (October 1879 until October 1880)
