1955 (Oct.) envelope to Kalimpong bearing 1t. revenue stamp tied by elaborate Thimpu handstamp in red with manuscript date insertion; the reverse bearing China 1954 National Congress 800f. tied by Yatung Chinese/English c.d.s. (21.10) and Kalimpong arrival (24.10). Bhutan was not a member of the U.P.U. so their stamps were not valid for international postage, the Chinese stamp was added whilst transiting in Yatung. Very fine condition. Also 1961 (Sept.) envelope to Kalimpong beaing 1t. revenue stamps tied by Thimpu c.d.s. and the reverse with Kalimpong arrival (3.9); this envelope has been torn in half, splitting the adhesive. Still not a member of the U.P.U. but the postage honoured anyway. (2 covers). Photo
