Postal Fraud: 1953 (Mar.) commercial envelope registered to Kalimpong bearing, on the reverse, pair of 1tr. bright orange with left margin tied by Lhasa type T42a postmark with Pharijong 1a. horseshoe postage due handstamp (type B114) plus three black wax seals. There is India 2a. alongside tied by Kalimpong c.d.s. (1.9.54). The address side with a light strike of Kalimpong c.d.s. (9.3) and the manuscript registration mark.

Because the colours of the 1tr. and 2tr. stamps were very similar, the postal clerk applied 1tr. stamps instead of the 2tr. required, used the postmark to cover the value tablets and pocketed the 2tr. This letter was delayed for more than a year before the Indian stamp was affixed and tied by the Kalimpong datestamp. Photo
