1912 The First Issue
1915 (Aug.) handmade paper, scarf-type envelope address in Tibetan bearing, on the reverse, the set of five values in some of the earlier shades, cancelled by the large Lhasa type II postmark in blue, alongside is India K.G.V ½a. tied by "gyantse tibet/siliguri base" type B1 c.d.s. (12.8), the address side with a very fine strike of Lhasa intaglio type I postmark in dark blue. The cover has suffered some tone spotting but this does not seriously detract from the rather splendid cover. The dated example of this large postmark is a rarity. Photo
