Yatung

1911 (31 Aug.) envelope registered to Attungol in India bearing 3p. on 1c. to 2½a. on 10c. part set of five tied by superb strikes of Yatung type C3 Dollar dater along with a superb strike of the registration handstamp CR1 (earliest recorded date), the reverse with Attungol arrival (9.9); hinge remainders on reverse, otherwise fresh and fine.

The validity of Chinese postage stamps used in Tibet involved much negotiation between China and Britain, but the British never gave in; thus this cover to India without Indian stamps is quite unusual. Photo
