Great Britain
Queen Elizabeth II Issues
1952-58 Photographic Essays
Stamp sized Photographic Essays for 2d., 2½ (4), 4d. and 1/- in unadopted designs each affixed to card, fine and scarce. While the central photographic portrait was being perfected, the Post Office established a list of artists to be invited to submit designs for the new stamps. The design brief insisted that the photographic portrait of The Queen would be the central feature, but that it was eminently desirable to include the four national floral emblems, it was also insisted that the words 'postage' and 'revenue' must feature.
