(x) Africa General Service 1902-56, 1 clasp, Nyasaland 1915 (A. Macdonald. Nyasaland Vol: Res:), nearly extremely fine
Alexander Macdonald was born at Stornoway on 18 January 1879. He joined the Nyasaland Volunteer Reserve in November 1915 and later the Nyasaland Field Force in August 1918. During the course of the conflict he was raised to the rank of Lieutenant. He not only saw service in the Chilembwe Uprising but also German East Africa 1916-17 and Portuguese East Africa 1918. After the war Macdonald remained in Nyasaland as a Missonary. He was further mentioned in despatches and earned a Meritorious Service Medal (London Gazette 13 March 1918); sold with copied MIC and other research.
