The mounted group of eight miniature dress medals worn by Brigadier-General E. C. Massy, Royal Artillery

The Most Honourable Order of the Bath, Military Companion's Badge, silver-gilt and enamel; The Most Distinguished Order of St Michael and St George, silver-gilt and enamel; Distinguished Service Order, G.V.R., silver-gilt and enamel, with top riband bar; India General Service 1895-1908, 2 clasps, Punjab Frontier 1897-8, Tirah 1897-8; 1914-15 Star; British War and Victory Medals, with M.I.D. oak leaves; Egypt, Kingdom, Order of the Nile, Badge, with rosette upon riband, mounted as worn by Spink & Son, 17 & 18 Piccadilly, good very fine (8)

Edward Charles Massy was born on 5 October 1868 and was educated at Cheltenham and the Royal Military Academy, Woolwich. Commissioned 2nd Lieutenant in the Royal Artillery on 17 February 1888, he first saw active service as Provost Marshall during the Tirah expedition. Advanced Captain on 31 October 1898, he was advanced Major on 26 March 1904 and Lieutenant-Colonel on 3 October 1914. Commanding 5th London Artillery, he took his unit to the Western Front in March 1915. Appointed Brigadier-General in March 1917, Massy commanded the Artillery of the 52nd Division, Egyptian Expeditionary Force and latterly the 7th Indian Division in Palestine. He finished the war with no less than six 'mentions' to go with his decorations and retired in 1920 and died in May 1946; sold together with copied award certificates and research relating to his service and the original sale of the medals.
