Henry Guard Baker was born at Pretoria in 1895 and was educated at Kingswood College, Grahamstown. He died in 1975.

Reverse of mounting has an unusual printed note, on cloth backing, stating:

'If found kindly return to owner, Mr. H. G. Baker, Address, 797 Park St. Pretoria, South Africa. "REWARD" Postage refunded.'
