3 'South Africa 1901' clasps issued to unit.

Richard John Robottom joined the Army on 2 October 1886 and transferred to the 8th Hussars on 26 November 1892. Joining the Military Mounted Police upon his re-engagement on 22 September 1897, he was promoted Corporal on 7 April 1901 and was severely wounded at Lydenburg on 10 July 1901. The casualty list for the Boer War for the Military Mounted Police totalled 3 died of disease, 1 killed in action, 1 accidentially killed, 1 missing and Robottom the sole man severely wounded. He served during the Great War on the Western Front from 12 October 1914; sold with written research.
