William Henry Hoskin, a native of Fulham, London, saw action during the latter stages of the Great War with No. 2 Group of the Malta Seaplane Squadrons flying Short Seaplanes. During February and March 1918 alone he flew at least 17 sorties, twice intercepting enemy submarines which had been menacing the convoys in and out of Malta. On 21 March that interception took place with Flight Sub-Lieutenant as pilot with Hoskin duly awarded his D.F.M. in early 1919; sold with copied research.
