A Corps HQ banner and two brassards used: '… when I commanded 2nd Divn. India during the 3rd Afghan War 1919'.

The banner of scarlet wool bunting and swallowtail form, measuring 445 mm x 635 mm and comprising two pieces of bunting sewn together horizontally, reinforced by patches of scarlet bunting at the upper and lower hoist corners, stencilled in white paint with the numerals: II; khaki canvas hoist sleeve, stamped in black ink: Ca 6, I (broad arrow) M and 3 x 2, enclosing a halyard of twisted hemp cord with a wooden toggle at the top and loop at the bottom; attached to it with a steel pin, a piece of paper bearing, in Dobell's hand, the pencilled inscription: Banner when I commanded 2nd Div. India during 3rd Afghan War 1919.

The brassards made from three strips of woollen cloth - red, white red - sewn together horizontally, measuring 76 mm x 432mm, reinforced at either end with white cloth and with a buckle applied to the front.

The banner with some moth damage, only fair condition; the brassards dirty and with slight moth damage, generally good condition.
