1894 (8 Aug.) large envelope registered to the Hongkong & Shanghai Bank in Shanghai bearing 4c. and 5c. tied by the 29mm double-circle chinkiang/postal service" bilingual postmark, there is a superb strike of the boxed registered handstamp with manuscript "5", the reverse with a fine strike of the large Chinkiang Postal Service datestamp, Shanghai Local Post arrival (9.8) and a complete red wax seal of the Municipal Council, Chinkiang. A very important cover which is the earliest recorded cover bearing the Chinkiang postage stamps. Also ½c. and 4c. pair cancelled by the large c.d.s. dated 1894 (6 Aug.), the day of issue. Photo
