1896 (17 Aug.) envelope from Col. Edward Alexander Stanton to his wife in England, marked "Active Service No Stamps Procurable" and showing part Wadi Halfa Camp datestamp and boxed "t" alongside London "1d/f.b", Cairo transit datestamp (25.8) on reverse. A fine cover from Stanton who the following year was chosen by Lord Kitchener to design the "Camel Postman" stamps
