Note: Due to the very bad state of the roads and flooding at the top end of the Western Cape near the border with German West Africa mail was taken by boat from Port Nolloth to Cape Town once a week, the journey taking two days. Mail would be handed to the ships captain at Port Nolloth and given the S.S. "Nautilus" handstamp. Upon arrival at Cape Town the mail would be put into the postal system
