1857 (18 Sept.) small envelope to Germany bearing pair of 4d. rose-carmine tied by Ventnor, Isle of Wight "971" numerals with "PD" in oval alongside, an array of backstamps with Ventnor despatch, London (18.9), Calais (19.9) and Luxembourg arrival; the adhesives have been applied close to the edge of the cover. A good franking.
