1868 (27 Jan.) blue envelope from the Governor, Sir Francis Hinks, K.C.M.G.C.B. with embossed Royal crest on flap, to "Blankenburg, West Coast", signed "Governor" at lower left and bearing 2c. orange (2) each neatly cancelled "a03", Demerara Type 19 double-ring datestamp on reverse. A fine and almost certainly unique example of the Governor having to pay inland postage though not international mail. Photo
