1856 Provisionals Type-set and Printed on Surface-Coloured Paper at the Official Gazette, Georgetown
Unused
4c. black on magenta initialled "CAW" (C.A.Watson), unused with some gum, good to very large margins. The stamp is accompanied by a Peter Holcombe Certificate (1995) with the following comments "The stamp has some gum and appears to be unused and bears no trace of a cancellation, there is a small part of a manuscript mark at left which is not part of a cancellation, it has some horizontal creasing along the top margin, and the surface of the paper has been painted over. It also has some vertical and horizontal creasing which cracks the surface of the paper in places and has been slightly painted in by the manuscript initials. As such it is in my opinion genuine". A presentable example of this exceptionally rare stamp of which less than a handful of unused examples exist. S.G. 24, £100,000. Photo
