1894 (5 Sept.) envelope to England “Via San Francisco” from the U.S. Consulate in Foochow, carried to Yokohama where 5s. Koban is tied by Yokohama c.d.s. and with Watford arrival (3.11). Refused and returned to sender with further Watford c.d.s. (6.11), London Returned Letter Office (7.11) along with “5d” Postage Due handstamp, Yokohama with circular Yokohama tax handstamp with manuscript “25 ctm” (plus Officially Sealed label) and Shanghai Local Post c.d.s. (24.5) in bluish.

1894年9月5日福州美國領事寄英國封， 此信貼上日本小判五錢票一枚， 9月27日信到横濱時銷橫濱中轉日戳， 並於11月6日到達目的地Watford， 由於1892年7月1日至1897年9月30日期間， 英日並無郵資的優惠協議， 故郵資應貼付十錢， 郵資不足退回， 於11月7日被轉到倫敦的退信辦公票， 及蓋上"Refused" 長方形戳記及欠資"5d"戳， 另有横濱圓框形"T"税戳與手䲾"25 ctm"記號， (並加貼官式簽紙)， 信於5月24日返回上海蓋藍色上海工部戳再轉福州， 少見的早期商埠退回封.
