Leuitenant-Colonel James Augustus Grant (1827-1892) was a Scottish explorer of eastern equatorial Africa. Grant served in the Sikh War and through the Indian Mutiny. Grant is best known for his botanical findings in Gondokoro (1860). in 1868 Grant served in the intelligence department of the Abyssinian expedition under Lord Napier, for this he was made a Companion of the Order of the Star of India and received the Abyssinia War Medal.
