Verney Lovett Cameron (1844-1894) was an English traveller in Central Africa and first European to cross equatorial Africa from sea to sea (1875). In 1873, Cameron commanded an expedition in assistance to David Livingstone. After Livingstone's death he was tasked with returning his body to the coast and would later find and return to England Livingstone's papers.
