Sir Robert Walpole, 1st Earl of Orford
1771 (25 May) warrant addressed to the Duke of Montagu (Master of His Majesty's Great Wardrobe) ordering the provision of a new livery for the King's rat-killer and signed by "Holles Newcastle" and countersigned by Walpole along with George Baillie and Charles Turner, from the Treasury Chambers, Whitehall. A sidenote to the warrant indicates that the cost should, "come to thirteen pounds or thereabouts". Some browning and brittle edges, not affecting the text and the endorsed leaf has become detached.
