Australia: Princess Theatre Company Limited, £50 share, 18[79], #44, black, transfers on reverse, one to James Cassius Williamson, who also signed the piece. The theatre was built in Melbourne's East End in 1854 as Astley's Amphitheatre but extensively renovated in 1857 and a large impressive facade was added. The name was changed on the reopening to Princess theatre and Opera House. By the 1880's the theatre had become rundown and ownership passed to a new group which included Williamson, an actor and theatrical manager, and the old theatre demolished. The new theatre, built in French Second Empire style, was opened in 1886. Only 200 shares issued and many for multiples so very scarce. GVF.
