Note: Capt. Davenport encountered severe turbulence over Sir Lowry's Pass. The port wing of the Union Airways Puss Moth was ripped off and the aircraft crashed killing the pilot and the two passengers. This was one of nine disasters throughout the world in which Puss Moths broke up in turbulence, the aircraft subsequently being withdrawn
