Mercia, Offa (757-796), Penny, Heavy coinage, South Eastern, non-portrait type, London, Diola, 1.15g, 3h, + offa|rex in two lines, uncial m flanked by pellet-trefoils above, rev. voided long cross pommée, di|o|la|+ lozenge o in angles, a pellet towards centre of second, third and fourth quarter (Chick 204b; cf. Coin Register, 1987, no. 108; CEB -; N.330/1; S.908), ragged edge and somewhat porous in appearance, otherwise very fine, the moneyer very rare for Offa, this being only the second example recorded since 1987
