Mercia, Offa (757-796), Penny, Light coinage, South Eastern, non-portrait type, Canterbury, Tirweald, 1.21g, 11h, voided Celtic cross, of|fa|re|x in angles, pellet cross at centre inside annulet, rev. ti|rvvasd, flower stem divides legend, l reversed, small cross, pellets in angles, all inside central annulet (Chick 132b this coin; EMC 2004.0070 this coin; CEB -; N.275/1; S.904), edge loss between 10 and 2 o'clock, otherwise very fine or better but for slightly rough surfaces

This issue was previously considered by Lawrence to be a spurious issue concocted in the early 19th Century. However owing to subsequent discoveries such as this coin, it is now widely accepted within the corpus of Offa coinage
