Trucial Oman Scouts

The Trucial Oman Levies were a paramilitary unit raised in 1951 and renamed the Trucial Oman Scots in 1956. By 1957, the Scouts numbered a shade over 1,000 and two companies fought in the Jebel Akhdar War. The final defeat of the rebels took place in January 1959 in an action led by the British SAS that the Trucial Oman Scouts supported, along with the Sultan's Northern Frontier Regiment.
