I.S.M. London Gazette 1 September 1964.

Joseph Steven was born in 1903 at Dundee and enlisted in the Royal Artillery (No.735890) in 1921. Little is known about his service during the Second World War but his entitlement suggests possible service during the evacuation of Dunkirk. Living at Wimbourne, Dorset, he was awarded the I.S.M. whilst working at Bovington Camp as a Technician (Class III) for the Ministry of Defence at 18 Command Workshop, Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers. Steven died at Poole, Dorset in 1979; sold together with Second War Campaign Award Certificate, Bestowal Document for the I.S.M. and three letters related to the award.
