"Mont St. Michel"
5f. chocolate, Mont St. Michel "erupting", a visually striking variety probably occurred as a result of the intrusion of a small object in the plate during the printing process; original gum. An exceptional and probably unique variety. Spink Maury 260var. Photo

The 5 francs Mont Saint-Michel was designed by Bivel and engraved by Mignon. There are two types of this stamp, which are easily identifiable at the point of the steeple by being intact or not. In this instance, this characteristic does not exist and it is due to a good reason: its proinent and extraordinary variety.
