King George V Commemoratives
1928 Melbourne Exhibition 3d. blue sheetlet, variety imperforate, fine mint. This sheetlet, [5] from the top right corner was from the unperforated sheet of 15 panes printed at the 1928 Philatelic Exhibition at Melbourne Town Hall and subsequently presented to King George V. One of the major highlights of the collection and a magnificent exhibition showpiece of the highest quality. Drury Certificate (2012). S.G. MS106a, £200,000; BW 133MSb, $350,000. Photo

Note: When included in the Royal Collection the full miniature sheet was too big for the album page, therefore the three imperforate panes from the right side of the sheet were removed. These three sheets subsequently came onto the market. One pane is in the R.T.P. Chapman collection, now part of the Australia Post archival collection. A second pane was in a private collection that was stolen in 1984.
