1936 (10 Feb.) 2c. stationery card carried on RAF Goodwill flight to Japan, from Kuching to Amoy, uprated 4c., showing "by air mail" label and Amoy (Chinese Post Office) c.d.s., marked "Returned" and showing "dead letter office/singapore" oval d.s. in red. Photo

Note: Three Singapore III flying-boats of No. 205 Squadron, led by Air Commodore Sydney Smith, paid a goodwill visit to Japan embracing Kuching, Kudat, Manila, Hong Kong, Amoy, Shanghai, Kagoshima and Tokyo. Due to a military coup in Japan the flight finished in Shanghai and the visit was called off.

Bad weather delayed the flight until February 12th when the planes took off for Kudat. After an overnight stay the flew to Manila on February 13th, where they remained for three days. Two planes left Manila for Hong Kong on February 16th. The third plane was delayed because an engine had to be replaced. On February 23rd it eventually left Manila and flew directly to Amoy.
